Southwestern Wisconsin Mental Health Summit: Growing through Adversity

The Annual SW WI Mental Health Summit is coming up on Friday March 19th - This year we are going virtual! Register Here!
Our keynote speakers include:

Megan Schilt is a mental health therapist and community educator, and opened Avenues Counseling LLC in Monroe in 2017.  One of Megan's clinical specialties is working with those impacted by trauma, traumatic stress, traumatic grief & loss, adversity, and difficulty adjusting to significant life events. In her personal life, Megan has come to understand trauma and its impact on mental/emotional health and well-being on an experiential level. She uses her personal experiences in combination with her clinical understanding to share her story in navigating unforeseen circumstances that changed her and her family's life, followed by a PTSD diagnosis, treatment, and the outcome of moving beyond surviving the experience, to thriving as a result of the adversity. Megan is passionate about sharing her story of trauma and recovery, through the combined lens of a vulnerable human and experienced clinician, with others for increasing understanding around the concept of "traumatic growth" and inspiring hope and decreasing stigma around mental health. Find out how this framework for understanding trauma and resilience can change how we approach mental health.  "In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning." —Viktor Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning

Paul Schmitz is CEO of Leading Inside Out and is Senior Advisor to The Collective Impact Forum, an initiative of FSG and The Aspen Forum for Community Solutions.  He is also an author of many essays and a book, Everyone Leads: Building Leadership from the Community Up (Jossey Bass, 2011). He will share his insights on how we can all build our capacity to be adaptive as leaders, finding places where there is common ground to work together in our communities.

There will be several other topics and chances to connect or reconnect with colleagues from across our five counties.  Stay tuned as we will share the full Summit schedule and some details about the virtual set-up soon!!
