Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse

The Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Unit (AODA) provides intervention, confidential assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, education and therapeutic services to adolescents, adults, including the intoxicated driver, affected family members and others who are impacted by alcohol and/or drug abuse or addiction.

Lafayette County Human Services offers out-patient care for individuals in need of substance use disorder treatment. The treatment team treats the whole person, recognizing that addiction and mental health disorders often co-occur and the simultaneous treatment of both is essential for effective treatment.

Substance use disorder can be defined simply as a pattern of harmful use of any substance for mood-altering purposes. “Substances” can include alcohol and other drugs (legal or illegal) as well as some substances that are not drugs at all.

We know that people struggling with substance use and addiction often have accompanying mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress. So, we often integrate mental health counseling and appropriate psychiatric care into treatment.

Recovery from a substance use disorder is possible.  Call 608-776-4800 to set up an appointment.
