Granted under authority of Wisconsin's livestock facility siting law (Wis. Stat. § 93.90 and Wis. Admin. Code Ch. ATCP 51), in 2016, Lafayette County adopted Ch. 6-11 Ordinance for Licensing Livestock Facilities. Within the ordinance, Lafayette County adopted and abides by all the standards and procedures outlined in § 93.90 and ATCP 51.
Under current rules, a license is required for the following:
- A proposed new livestock facility that will hold more than 750 animal units.
- An expansion of a pre-existing or previously approved livestock facility if the number of animal units kept exceed 750 animal units, if the expansion is greater than 20% than the number kept on May 1, 2006.
