The Southwest Wisconsin Land Judging Competition is an annual contest held every year on a newly selected site with a cooperative landowner. Each competition is sponsored by by the Land & Water Conservation Departments from Grant, Green and Lafayette Counties. The contest currently rotates every year to one of the three counties.
In this competition, students review four soil pits and evaluate soil properties, estimate slope, rank land classes, and recommend conservation practices.
Since every year a different site is selected, students get to experience varying slopes, soil types and conditions.
