Law Enforcement and Emergency Government Committee

Committee Description

Law Enforcement Committee:  This committee shall be comprised of four County Board members, one of which shall serve as Committee Chair.  This committee meets monthly or as needed.  The Committee shall provide oversight for the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Lafayette County Jail Operations and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communication Center.  This Committee is authorized to provide recommendations and approvals for the efficient operations of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office pursuant to Wis. Stat. §59.  It shall be the duty of this Committee to investigate and report on any claims against the Sheriff, Sheriff’s Deputies, witnesses, County and Circuit Court of Lafayette County.  

Emergency Government Committee:  This committee shall be comprised of the County Board Chair, who will serve as the Committee Chair as mandated by state statute, and the four County Board Members that serve as the Law Enforcement Committee.  This Committee meets as needed.  The Committee shall provide oversight for the Lafayette County Emergency Government Department which is administered by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.  This Committee is authorized to provide recommendations and approvals for the efficient operations of the Lafayette County Emergency Government Department pursuant to Wis. Stat.§ 323.
